Most of us, ladies, don’t know that not everything we take in is considered healthy for our wellbeing. The food we eat may mar us or make us better. 

The brain is one the most important part of the body, which if not properly maintained, can lead to malfunction of the person—emotionally, physically, and otherwise.

You may think of fish as one of the best you need for the proper functioning of the brain. This is because fish contains omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids are needed for brain and nerve cells building, which in turn, improves learning and memory. What about age-related mental degeneration? The omega-3s play a vital role, and also helps in fighting Alzheimer’s. 

Another one which has been applauded by food nutritionists is turmeric. Do you use curry powder to cook? Then you are doing the right thing without cost. Turmeric contains an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, known as curcumin. This compound helps in stress reduction. So if you are always knocked for six by stress, try as much as possible to include turmeric in your meals. Apart from getting it from curry powder, you can also make a turmeric tea. 

Next, you could think of green tea. Have you ever drank this tea? It is very rich in antioxidants and many other nutrients loaded with powerful effects on the body. According to researchers, it is the healthiest tea ever known on this planet. It improves brain functions such as better performance, focus, incredible memory. One of its components, L-theanine, has been scientifically proven to help in relaxing the mind.  

Have you ever thought of whole grains? Most of us eat these foods every day. They contain fibers, which help in memory and concentration. Therefore, if you find it difficult to concentrate on important things, especially when a teacher is giving lectures, think of whole grains as one of those foods to do the work.  

The last but not the least in this series is tomatoes. No wonder our mothers use tomatoes in cooking! Tomatoes contain carotenoids—antioxidants necessary for cognitive brain functions and reduction in depression capacity.  Lycopene, the most abundant compound found in tomatoes has been linked with lowering stroke because of the anti-inflammatory effect it has on blood vessels.
