Is the Me Too movement an end to sexual harassment?
The Me Too movement was started as a step towards ending sexual violence by giving people a platform to speak up, hence breaking the culture of silence that accompanies sexual violence. The Me Too movement gives men and women a chance to speak out against any form of sexual harassment, and that has led to exposing many sex offenders on social media.
It has also dragged the attention of the general public to the fact that men can be and are being sexually assaulted and that women are sexual offenders as well. The Me Too campaign is a great step towards ending this menace of sexual violence and it has made people focus on this thing that is prevalent in our society as most times we tend to pretend it doesn’t exist whereas it is more common than we think it is.
Despite all the advantages that this campaign has brought online, especially on Twitter, it has been met with criticism by many people. But facts have shown that the campaign has done more good than harm and it will do us women and many victims of any form of sexual violence a great favor.
